Visit to Ahobilam

Ahobilam is a awesome place and must visit shrine in one's life time. Surrounded by nature and water flows which makes your travel a memorable experience. On a whole they are 9 shrines that are to be covered to complete your trip. Auspicious day for travel is the day on which Swati nakshatra comes as per Telugu calendar. Lord Narasimha Swamy is believed to be born in that Nakshatra and on the day of Swati, People trust that Lord comes and wanders in that place. Here are the swathi dates for Year 2013-14

We started from Hyderabad by bus and it took 8 hours to reach the allagadda. From Allagadda it is around 20 kms drive and Government run buses are available for every hour. Shared Autos are available if you dont prefer to travel by bus. You can see a large number of Mini hotels opposite to Allagadda bus station and it is always suggestible for one to complete his breakfast and start to Ahobilam. Initially you reach lower Ahobiliam and then you need to travel for 8kms to reach upper ahobilam.

Sunrise at Ahobilam
Once you reach Lower Ahobilam, You can check for accommodation at Malola Guest house. It is a Temple Mutt guest house and has only few rooms. It is always better to book room in advance if you would like to stay. There are no hotels or place to stay at upper ahobilam

Mallola Guest house

In lower ahobilam there are 5 temples and in Upper Ahobilam you have 4 temples. Apart from 4 temples in upper Ahobilam, you also have Prahalada padi and Ugra Stambam. To cover all these places it requires a minimum of 2 days (Subject to your stamina and fitness). For people who can't climb steps or Can't walk in the forest, there are Dholis available to carry you to the temples. Usually they charge Rs 2000-2500 and cover Kroda, Mallola and 8000 to cover Kroda, Mallola and Jwala. Drinking Water wouldn't be available at upper ahobilam thus it is always advisable to carry sufficient water for your trek.

My advice is better to cover Kroda, Mallola, Jwala and Ugra stambham in day 1 of your trip. On day 2 cover Pavana before Mid noon and come back to lower ahobilam. Hire a auto or Mini zeep and cover Karanza, Bhargava, Chatravata and Yogananda temples. Lower ahobilam temple can be covered at any time as it is adjacent to Guest house.
